What is Molecular/Short Path Distilation?

Molecular distillation, also known as short path distillation, is a highly specialized method of thermal separation performed under ultra-high vacuum conditions. It minimizes the residence time and operating temperature required for distillation, making it ideal for thermally unstable or high molecular weight compounds that cannot be separated using conventional methods.

Unlike traditional distillation, molecular distillation uses a short travel distance (path) between the heated surface and the condensing surface—significantly reducing thermal degradation and maximizing product recovery and purity.
